War from the air: The Russians become the first nation to fly a four engine aeroplane when Igor Sikorsky successfully pilots a  craft which is capable of carrying over 1500 pounds of bombs as well as four machine guns.

Arms Race: In response to rising international tensions, the Belgian Army announces plans to increase its strength to 340,000 men, but fails to follow through on its stated intent.

Society and Culture: the City of Sophia in Bulgaria opens its new mineral baths to the public, near to the site of the old Turkish bath amenity, which has been earmarked for demolition. The new baths will remain in use until 1986.
