Second Balkan War: At Thessaloniki, the Greeks and Serbians sign the Greek-Serbian alliance to protect their recent gains in Macedonia from Bulgarian expansion/ aggression.

Society and Culture: In Dorchester, Dorset, England – Arthur Pink, aged 24,  of Colliton Street, marries Nellie Aplin in Holy Trinity Church. He will be killed in action on October 13th next year (1914) and commemorated in cold stone on a memorial plaque along with many other fallen sons of Dorset.

Sport – in Ghent, Belgium, Frenchman George Carpentier beats “Bombardier” Billy Wells to become the heavyweight boxing champion of Europe.
