BORN TODAY: in Marlborough, Wiltshire, UK – Lieutenant Patrick Corfe Cother, DSC, wartime sailor who later captained actor Errol Flynn’s yacht “Zaca“in the late 1950s.

World Affairs (Second Balkan War): Romania mobilizes its armed forces in the context of its ongoing territorial dispute with Bulgaria.

Early Flight: US Ensign William Devotie Billingsley, from Winona Mississippi, is killed while attempting to land his Wright B-2 biplane which has been fitted with pontoons for landing on water.

Society and Culture: the Govan Cinema opens in the Western districts of Glasgow, with a showing of “Napoleon”. It will be demolished in 1936 to make way for the new Plaza cinema on the same site.

Hanover, in Germany, opens its new city hall (Rathaus) at a cost of ten million marks, and erected on 6000 beech tree piles alongside the Masch Lake. It replaces the old city hall, parts of which dated back to the early fifteenth century.
