BORN TODAY: In Adelaide, South Australia – Sergeant James Alexander Herman, who lost his life on 24th May 1942 (aged 28) in a mid-air collision of two Royal Australian Air Force Hudson bombers at Barramundi Creek near Giru.


Early air accidents: in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, american John Bryant becomes Canada’s first air fatality when his Curtiss seaplane crashes.
