In Belgium, the City of Liege finally falls under full German control as the last fort is destroyed by a direct hit from the new massive Krups artillery.

In Constantinople (Istanbul) Turkey’s government announces that two german warships (Goeben and Breslau which narrowly escaped destruction by the British in the Mediterranean before fleeing though the Dardanelles) have been transferred to the Turkish navy. This effectively gives Turkey control of the Black Sea, which is so important to Russia. Officially, Turkey remains neutral.
